Chiropractic & Spinal Injuries
People often associate spinal injuries from car accidents with those that appear on the news headline – heavy collision, concussion, broken bones, hospitalization, etc. Little do people know that minor collisions can do just as much damage on their spine over time.
Whiplash injuries are traumas sustained during even a less-severe collision where the head is flung forward and back by the force of impact, and this strains both the musculatures and skeletal structure of the neck. The muscle injuries may recover in a matter of days or weeks and the symptoms can seem to be gone. However, the spinal injuries may need further investigation in order to be certain that the force of impact did not cause the vertebral disc to slip or pull the spinal ligaments causing vertebral instability.
We may not always be able to avoid accidents, but we can prevent the injuries from getting worse. People often associate spinal injuries with sudden traumas such as car crash, a fall, or other incidents. However, some injuries from accidents may be hidden and without pain, but it is slowly changing the bodily structure and habits causing gradual wear and tear on the spine.
Chiropractic care can therefore identify and help correct and promote tissue or structural damage before symptoms progresses.
